Well if you’ve seen the header image it is no surprise that MicroMacro: Crime City is my first game of the month of 2023. We started our super-sleuthing in December as a family activity. It was an instant hit with our kids and we had to rein them in from wanting to complete all the missions in one sitting. My wife was narrator and helped with the searching a little, but equally she played moderator to make some of the crimes a little less seedy.
We’ve made the game family friendly, well as family friendly as a Marvel movie! There is a lot of dead bodies and other crimes as you would expect from a game billed as ‘Crime City’. In its simplest form it is akin to Where’s Wally (or Waldo to my overseas readers). You are scouring over a huge map to look for clues. What is extremely clever in MicroMacro is that there are multiple timelines on the map. So you trace the steps of victims and culprits across town.
Each case gets a little bit harder or longer to track and trace. Overall MicroMacro Crime City is thoroughly entertaining. It is the perfect after dinner family activity.
A game that brings us all together and working as a team, without arguing, is a winner for me. That’s why MicroMacro Crime City is game of the month for January 2023!
