Globalls Carnival Games Review
I’ve been to Globalls a couple of times for their indoor mini-golf and always enjoyed it. I hadn’t frequented the establishment for a little while, but when the kids got vouchers from their auntie for Christmas, I was keen to tag along. So keen, in fact I proposed we went on the blursday between Christmas and New Year. Instead of doing the crazy golf we decided to have a crack at their Carnival Games.
That was because between us, we had ticked off all the different golf courses. So doing something different interested us. I must confess, I didn’t really know what to expect. The website states there are ten different challenges ‘featuring all the classics’. As you can see, that wasn’t particularly enlightening! We still decided to give it a whirl.

We headed to the Marina at Brighton. We always wrap up warm as it gets breezy and chilly there. I think the best advantage though is that the multistorey car park is free for four hours. That easily made up for having to pay a few quid for lockers to stow our coats in at Globalls.

As we walked through the entrance we ushered ourselves along the queue line and got straight to the front. A helpful member of staff then talked us through everything. The intro was over in a flash and we proceeded to the entrance of the Carnival Games. Walking in we were greeted with a barrage of UV – the signature ambience of Globalls.

The styling is super cool and thematic. I particularly appreciated the comedic touches scattered around that often gave a nod to the saucy seaside humour of Brighton in times gone by.

We followed the route of games, keeping score along the way. Some were typical things you might see at a fairground like strongman high striker, others were an interesting interpretation. Stand outs for me were the Hook-a-Duck and the Incredible Flying Pigs. They also had one of those domes, with a wind turbine where you collect foil tickets like in the finale of the Crystal Maze. When I watched that on the telly, I always thought I would be ace, turns out I’m not as good as I thought I would be, which was kinda crushing.

Speaking of finales, the last challenge was probably the only disappointment, as it wasn’t all working as well as it should. Despite that, after an hour, we had all had a barrel of fun and laughs. I don’t want to brag but I won, and after a walk of shame for the rest of my family to the lockers, we gathered our coats and headed off in search of something to eat. The options are good at the marina so that’s a bonus too.
