Tulley’s Farm SpellCraft Spoiler-free Escape Room Review
Advert: this experience was gifted byTulleys Farm, this has not affected our opinion.
The whole family was buzzing at how good Mutiny was at Tulley’s. So after a quick bite to eat we went straight in for our pre-booked slot at SpellCraft. You can read more about Mutiny in my review here. Walking into the welcome area of SpellCraft we were greeted with a thematic entrance, with fake shopfronts and other cool witchy décor.

I was quite surprised that at this point we were split into two teams. Without too much thought I paired up with George (12) while the other three formed their own team. We were escorted into the bad wizard’s Potions Emporium starting area, while the others went to the sweety emporium.
I was greeted with a host of grimoire potions and cupboards with a few puzzles to solve. George and I made good progress and were told that the good witches and wizards needed some of our assistance when we finished.

We walked into a bright and colourful sweet shop, a real contrast with our thematically dingy interior. We quickly caught up with their progress. They had a couple of tasks still to complete, one was virtually impossible for them as Shelley has almost no sense of smell and the kids were not adept enough for the sensory task either. These were pretty tricky, and joining half way through added to the complexity as George and I had no idea of what had already been attempted. Solving their challenges certainly felt like a step up in difficulty from Mutiny – which goes along with Tulley’s website rating scale of difficulty too.

We moved onto the next room which was fantastically styled and also felt like a breeze with us all working together again. A mystical land greeted us from there and it took us a while to find our bearings. We slowed up but just about got through it before going back to the intermediary room, I promise no spoiler reviews, but this had a nice little surprise when we got into the next room. We got through this one a bit slower and just completed it before we ran out of time. There was still at least another room to go which we caught a glimpse of.

So, we failed! Spellcraft was harder. As relative newbies to Escape Rooms this was just a bit too much for us as a family. The whole family still had a magical time. I must also add, the styling was just as fantastic as Mutiny. We drowned our losses with some well-earned cake in the nearby café.
I think a group of adults or families with older kids would be fine. What I did discover though was that Tulley’s offer a discount voucher if you don’t complete an Escape Room so that you can try again another day. I certainly will do and I will update this review when I do to let you know how I got on!
